The 2025 edition of the Lancaster County Dancing with the Stars is in full swing! The event is a fundraiser for the Focus Arts Program at Andrew Jackson Middle School. The show will take place at the Andrew Jackson Visual and Performing Arts Center in Kershaw, SC, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 7 pm. Tickets for the event are on sale now for $20 and can be purchased at the Preppy Pineapple or Genelles in Lancaster or Andrew Jackson Middle School (803-475-6021) in Kershaw. At AJMS, Dancing with the Stars is part of the Project-Based Learning Curriculum in our Dance Department. Project-Based Learning is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. Dance students work directly with community volunteers to plan the choreography for dances and teach it to these adult dancers in the community. From the starting concept to the finished show, students are designing and teaching to create the performance. Assistant Principal, Heather Turner said “Now, more than ever it is important to help students foster their creativity, responsibility, and connection to a community beyond themselves. When we first established this project based unit, we knew its importance but could not foresee the tremendous impact it would have on students’ skills post COVID. We have seen higher connections from students due to a feeling of purpose and using their creativity which raises their self esteem, confidence, and pride in their accomplishments.”
This year’s theme is Everything Old is New Again! We are returning former dancers from previous Dancing with the Stars shows with NEW partners! These dancers know what they’re doing and are back again for glory (or revenge)! The following Celebrity Community dancers will be in the show:
