York County Woman Charged by SLED for Forging Expungement Letter

YORK, S.C. — Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have arrested a York County woman accused of creating a fraudulent legal document to deceive her employer.

Kelly P. Wilkins, 60, was taken into custody on Friday, December 19, 2025, and charged with forgery. The investigation was launched by SLED at the request of the York City Police Department.

Allegations of Fake Documentation

According to the arrest warrant, the incident occurred earlier this year on or about January 8, 2025. Investigators allege that Wilkins “falsely made a fraudulent expungement letter” regarding a previous shoplifting charge.

The affidavit states that Wilkins forged the signature of a victim on the document and subsequently presented the falsified letter to her manager as if it were legitimate.

Case Status

Wilkins was booked into the York County Detention Center following her arrest. The case is set to be prosecuted by the 16th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The charge is listed as Forgery, with no dollar amount involved, under South Carolina Code of Laws section 16-13-0010(A).
