FORT MILL, SC — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is celebrating the holiday season with a special plea to find forever homes for two deserving pets who have been waiting patiently at the rescue. With Christmas approaching, the shelter is hoping the community can give the ultimate gift: a loving family.
Cat of the Week: Mini Meow-Meow
Meet Mini Meow-Meow, a stunning black and white beauty who came to the HSYC as a stray. It is hard to believe, but she has been waiting at the rescue for 94 days—far too long for a cat this wonderful.
Estimated to be 1 year and 7 months old, Mini Meow-Meow is still just a kid at heart looking for her forever home. She is described as “stinkin’ cute” with a fun attitude that shines through in her photos. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested, and ready to go. If you love a feline friend with a bit of personality, stop by the cat room to meet her or call to make an appointment.
Dog of the Week: Bloopers
The Dog of the Week is a “cutie patootie” named Bloopers. This adorable Chihuahua mix (approx. 10-15 lbs) originally arrived as a stray found running in traffic. Sadly, he was adopted and returned through no fault of his own.
Bloopers has been at the rescue for 73 days and is looking for stability. At just 1 year and 1 month old, he is a “velcro dog” who loves to stick close to his humans. While he is dog-friendly, he can be a little nervous in uncertain surroundings and is searching for a person, couple, or family that can offer him a consistent routine. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested.
What’s the Scoop at HSYC?
Beyond adoptions, there are several updates from the shelter as the year winds down:
-
Christmas Store: This is the final week to shop at the 2025 Christmas Store and Boutique. It is also the last week to visit the PAWSibilities Thrift Shop & Boutique before the holiday.
-
Secret Santa: The HSYC Secret Santa Program is still in motion, offering a fun way to give back to the animals.
-
Success Stories: The community’s generosity has been overwhelming this year. Year-to-date in 2025, the HSYC has successfully placed 774 pets (166 dogs and 608 cats) into forever homes.
