Duda, Foltz to Face Off in Tega Cay Special Election for City Council

TEGA CAY, S.C. – The field is set for the upcoming Tega Cay City Council special election. Filing closed at noon today, Monday, Dec. 8, with two candidates officially qualifying for the ballot: Liz Duda and Jim Foltz.

Voters will head to the polls on Feb. 3, 2026, to decide who will fill the unexpired term of Mayor-elect Carmen Miller. The winner will serve the remaining two years of Miller’s council seat following her victory in the November mayoral race.

The Candidates

The race features two residents vying for the single open seat.

Early Voting Information

Qualified Tega Cay voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day. However, residents should note that early voting will not take place within the city limits.

  • Location: York County Government Center (6 S. Congress St, York, SC).

  • Dates: Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 30 (Monday–Friday).

  • Time: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Election Day Details

  • Date: Tuesday, Feb. 3.

  • Polls Open: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • Location: Tega Cay voters should report to their assigned precinct locations on Election Day.

Residents are encouraged to check their voter registration status ahead of the election to ensure they are eligible to participate in selecting the newest member of the City Council.
