The Catawba Ridge High School marching band has achieved the highest honor for high school ensembles, earning a coveted spot in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The band will realize a dream that began with their application in January 2024, marching down the streets of New York City this Thanksgiving Day. Band Director Patrick Butler and Assistant Director David Shives expressed excitement about the opportunity to perform.
The group, consisting of 188 band members and chaperones, is scheduled to depart for New York City on Monday, November 24th. In addition to preparing for the parade, the trip includes sightseeing stops at iconic locations like the Rockettes show and the Empire State Building.
For their marching performance, the band has prepared two festive Christmas pieces. They also have a special number planned for their featured performance in front of the Macy’s performance area.
The parade will be aired live on NBC from 8:30-Noon on Thanksgiving Day.
