Anna Miller Announces Candidacy for Probate Judge of York County

Anna Miller, an experienced associate judge and attorney with a deep commitment to serving families and upholding the law, today announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for Probate Judge of York County. York County has been served by Republican Judge Carolyn Woodruff since 2011. Judge Woodruff recently announced that she wouldn’t seek another term. “I would like to thank Judge Woodruff for her years of service to the people of York County. She has assembled a department that is the envy of the state, and I’ve been honored to be a part of it.”

With 15 years of experience in estate planning and probate law, 6 of which have been in York County, Miller has helped families navigate some of life’s most essential and sensitive moments. As a Probate Judge, she strives to ensure that the court operates efficiently, fairly, and with compassion for every individual who appears before it.

“The Probate Court touches people’s lives during times of transition, loss, and new beginnings,” said Miller. “My goal is to make sure every individual is treated with respect and that the law is applied with integrity and understanding.”

The Probate Court oversees matters such as estate administration, guardianships, conservatorships, marriage licenses, chemical dependency, and mental health commitments. Miller plans to focus on improving access to the court, modernizing processes, and strengthening public trust through transparency and service.

A resident of York County for seven years, Miller has been active in the community through her experience as a member of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges’ legislative committee, service of several years as the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges’ Secretary/Treasurer, participation on the NAMI York County taskforce, and her many years as a volunteer children’s Sunday School teacher at her church. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s Honors College and the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a member of both the South Carolina and Mississippi bars.

“York County deserves a Probate Court that will continue to be efficient, compassionate, and guided by fairness,” Miller added. ‘Tm running to keep professionalism, experience, and a steady hand in this important office. I’m well aware that the Probate Court makes a difference in people’s lives, from keeping individuals and the community safe through the commitment process, to guiding the bereaved through an estate, to ensuring that the outcome of a complex contested proceeding follows the law.”
