Pets of the Week: Evelyn & Sprout need York County hearts

The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is spotlighting two irresistible companions who are ready for their FURever homes—plus sharing an urgent plea and simple ways our community can help.

Cat of the Week: Evelyn

Evelyn is a stunning, soft-spoken two-year-old who’s been shuffled from home to home through no fault of her own. She’s reserved at the rescue but opening up more every day—what she craves most is stability, love, and a quiet lap to claim as her own.

  • Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested
  • A perfect match for a calm home that will give her time to trust again
  • Ready to be someone’s steady, soothing companion

Dog of the Week: Sprout

Meet Sprout—7 months old, bright, bouncy, and brimming with potential. Recently pulled from Animal Control, this “cutie patootie” is already winning hearts.

  • Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested
  • Playful and social with other dogs
  • Thrives with consistency, patience, and positive guidance

What’s the Scoop, PAWS?

HSYC weathered a tough week: multiple dogs were dumped at or near the rescue—two left in kennels in the parking lot overnight and one left in the yard the night before. Staff and volunteers are urging the community: please do not abandon family pets. Dumping puts animals in danger from strangers and the elements, terrifies them, and strains already full shelters.

The bright spot? You showed up. Community donations poured in, helping HSYC care for the sudden influx. The rescue is deeply grateful for the support.
