Mr. Woodford “Woody” Lee Wilson, age 81, of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 26, 2025. Born on September 17, 1944, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Hazel John Wilson and the late Guy Rea Horton Wilson. He was the devoted husband of Linda W. Wilson.
Woody enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as Personnel Manager at US Textiles before his retirement. A man of many passions, he was an avid history enthusiast, a skilled woodworker, and a dedicated outdoorsman who especially enjoyed bird hunting and tractors. He was also an avid Yankee’s fan, racing fan, a faithful viewer of FOX News, a devoted reader of the Bible, and past American Legion baseball player.
Woody was a proud Mason member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 and the Eastern Star. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and choir director
He will be remembered for his love of family, commitment to service, and unwavering faith.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Wyke Wilson; his daughter, Carrie Threatt (Scott); a step-daughter, Angie Young (David) of Granite Falls, NC; two step-sons, Stacey Hill of Hendersonville, NC, and Chris Hill of Granite Falls, NC; his two brothers, Reggie Wilson (Delene), and Randy Wilson (Teri); eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tim Colvard (Julia); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in by his parents, and a sister, Hazeline Wilson.
The Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, October 3, 2025, at Taylors Grove Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Danny Martin and Rev. Tommy Howell.
The family will receive friends, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, Friday, October 3, 2025, at Taylors Grove Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Taylors Grove Baptist Church Building Fund or Senior Ministry, 2382 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.
