York, S.C. – Emily Hayes of York, South Carolina, has added another major title to her growing list of international accomplishments, striking gold in the Women’s Team Sprint at the USA Cycling Elite National Championships.
Hayes, racing alongside teammates Kayla Hankins of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Hayley Yoslov of Corte Madera, Calif., powered to victory in thrilling fashion. The trio not only clinched the top spot on the podium but also shattered a national record, clocking a blistering 1:04.485.
The silver medal went to the team of Felice Beitzel, Rita Fedewa, and McKenna McKee, who finished in 1:06.597. Melissa Martucci, Megan Mattson, and Jennifer Wagner secured bronze.
Continuing a Pattern of Success
This latest triumph continues Hayes’s remarkable run on the track. Just this past April, she earned gold in the team sprint and bronze in the individual sprint at the Pan American Championships. The year before, she collected two bronze medals at the 2024 Pan Ams as a member of Team USA.
Her performance at nationals confirms her position as one of the rising stars of American sprint cycling. The win also carries special meaning as she now wears the Stars and Stripes jersey, a symbol of national champion status, for the next year.
Hayes’s breakthrough on the national stage is being celebrated in her hometown of York, where community members have watched her progression from promising talent to international medalist. With momentum on her side, she now turns her focus to future international competitions, where she aims to keep bringing medals home to South Carolina and Team USA.
