FORT MILL SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES TEACHER AND SUPPORT STAFF EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

FORT MILL, SC — At the school board meeting held on Aug. 19, 2025, the district announced the selection of the 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year.

Katie Jenkinson, Lead Teacher at Banks Trail Middle School, was named the 2025–2026 District Teacher of the Year. Dr. Jenkinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Randolph-Macon Women’s College, a Master’s Degree in Education and Divergent Learning from Columbia College, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Curriculum Studies. She previously taught English at Rock Hill High and Gold Hill Middle before joining Banks Trail in 2020. A National Board Certified Teacher, Dr. Jenkinson has also shared her expertise through conference presentations across the district.

Jamale Foster, an instructional assistant in the self-contained Special Services classroom at Catawba Ridge High School, was named the 2025–2026 Support Staff Employee of the Year. Mr. Foster earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from North Greenville University and previously served as an assistant football coach at Nation Ford High School before joining the Special Services team as an instructional assistant. Since joining Catawba Ridge in 2023, he has continued his work in special services while also serving as the defensive back and special teams coach for the junior varsity and varsity teams. In addition, he sponsors Club Unify, supporting inclusive student opportunities.

“We celebrate this year’s honorees not only for their hard work but for the impact they have on their schools and our community,” said Superintendent Grey Young. “Their example inspires all of us to continue building an environment where students thrive.”
