The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is shining the spotlight this week on two special residents—one regal feline and one energetic pup—both ready to find their forever families.
Cat of the Week – Diva
True to her name, Diva is a stunning 5-year, 4-month-old tabby who knows she’s “all that.” Often found roaming the Big Cat room, she enjoys her independence and isn’t shy about showing off her beauty. Diva returned to HSYC as a stray and has been patiently waiting far too long for the right adopter. She is spayed, vaccinated, tested, microchipped, and would thrive as the only cat in the home. Diva is seeking someone who will give her the time to adjust, listen to her “day updates,” and shower her with the affection she’s been missing.
Dog of the Week – Rueben
Rueben, a handsome 1-year, 8-month-old mixed breed, has spent the past eight months at HSYC after being surrendered by his previous owner. Medium-sized at around 40 pounds, Rueben is energetic, loves walks, and enjoys the company of other dogs. He has adjusted well to new experiences and people, is eager to please, and would excel with continued training. Smart and full of potential, Rueben is ready for an active adopter to help him shine.
How You Can Help
HSYC reminds the community that it takes a village to support rescue efforts. You can help by sharing the animals’ profiles, donating financially or through gently used thrift shop items, liking HSYC’s Facebook page, or fostering—especially during kitten season.
So far in 2025, HSYC has placed 105 dogs and 348 cats into loving homes.
