Pets of the Week: Meet Lady Gray and Lansky at the Humane Society of York Count

FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is highlighting two adoptable pets this week: Lady Gray, a striking gray cat with mysterious eyes, and Lansky, a young brindle Plott Hound mix full of potential.

Lady Gray: Independent and Affectionate Lady Gray, estimated to be just over a year old, arrived at the HSYC as a stray. Although fairly new to the shelter, she has already made an impression. Her soft gray coat and yellowish eyes are striking, and she communicates with gentle purrs and affectionate rubs. While independent, she seeks out love on her own terms and will thrive with a family that gives her space and time to adjust. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to meet potential adopters.

Lansky: Energetic and Eager to Learn Lansky is a young Plott Hound, about six months old, and weighs approximately 40 pounds. He was also found as a stray and is adjusting to life at the shelter. Despite the change, he remains affectionate and loves to snuggle. Lansky walks well on a leash, enjoys his daily walks, and has started training at the Zoom Room in Fort Mill. As a young pup, he will benefit from continued training and a patient, consistent home. Lansky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and available for adoption.

Those interested in adopting Lady Gray or Lansky can schedule an appointment by calling 803-802-0902. Details on the adoption process and requirements are available at www.humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org.

Support and Foster Opportunities The shelter reminds the community that kitten season is in full swing and fostering helps save lives. Information on becoming a foster is available at HSYC Foster Program.

HSYC also accepts donations of funds and essential items like clay cat litter, bleach, laundry detergent, and Pine-Sol. Donations can also be made through their thrift shop in Fort Mill, which supports shelter operations.

So far in 2025, HSYC has placed 89 dogs and 281 cats into permanent homes. Community support remains vital to continuing this mission.
