The 2025 Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Track and Field Region 2 meet delivered a day of intense competition and dramatic finishes, culminating in a nail-biting victory for the Fort Mill girls’ team. With a mere 0.5-point margin, Fort Mill edged out Dorman, securing the coveted top spot and showcasing the depth and resilience of their squad. The boys’ competition was equally fierce, with Spartanburg claiming the championship, and Northwestern finishing a strong second.
The meet, held at York Comprehensive High School, saw athletes from across the region battling for supremacy, with numerous standout performances highlighting the day.
Girls’ Competition: A Razor-Thin Margin
Fort Mill’s victory was a testament to their consistent performance across various events. Key contributions from their athletes in both track and field events proved crucial in securing the narrow victory. Dorman’s strong showing meant that every point mattered, and the tension was palpable as the final results were tallied.

Kaylee Rovenstine finished second in the 3200m and third in the 1600m, Marlee Cook took second in the 800m, and Mia Zook finished third in the 3200m. Their 4x800m relay won the event. In the field events, Marixa Jones finished second in the high jump, Bela Grupp took second in the pole vault, and Kate Marker took third in the shot put.
- South Pointe had multiple podium finishes with Azyah Adams third in the 100m, their 4x100m relay finished third, and Kavae Anderson took third in the high jump.
- Clover was led by Ella Nighbor with a win in the 3200m and second place finish in the 1600m, Eliza Grieves third in the 400m, Mackenzie Boggess won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump.
- Nation Ford Haley Garcia third in the 800m, their 4x100m relay finished second and their 4×400 relay took third.
- York was lead by Zimyah Robbin who won the high jump.
- Rock Hill had Darcy York in third in the pole vault,
- Northwestern thrower Irie Morton won the javelin.
Boys’ Competition: Spartanburg Reigns, Northwestern Strong
The boys’ meet saw Spartanburg dominate, showcasing their strength and depth across multiple disciplines. Northwestern delivered a very strong second place finish.
- Northwestern demonstrated their strength, securing a solid second-place finish, with strong showings in sprint and relay events. Austin Smith won the 400m and finished second in the 200m. Jared Isley finished second in the 110m hurdles, Landon Pedley finished third in the 400m hurdles, their relay teams won the 4×400 and finished third in the 4×100 relay. Porter Freeman finished second in the pole vault, William Massey took 3rd in the javelin,
- Fort Mill athletes also made significant contributions, earning valuable points for their team’s overall score. The team was led by Connor Demmerle who won the 1600m and finished second in the 800m, as well as Hudson Haley who won the 3200m and Isaac Campbell who finished second in the 1600m and third in the 3200m. They also won the 4x800m relay. Padyn Gossett-McDowell finished third in the pole vault, Smith Stapleton finished second in the discuss and third in the shot put,
- South Pointe displayed significant athletic prowess, earning a solid team placement. Malik Ratliff won the high jump, Victor Goree finished second in the shot put,
- Nation Ford athletes also contributed consistently to their team score. Patrick McLeod won the discus, Lucas Barz took second in the javelin, Chandler Hunter finished second in the 400m, Robert Saddler third in the 800m
- South Pointe runners Evan Rybacki and Keller Brown finished 3rd and 4th in the 1600m,
