About Us

It started with a simple idea. Bring daily local news to our community, free of charge. We recognized that although there are several news outlets serving our area, their focus is primarily on national news while ignoring hyper-focused local news.

With this in mind, Thomas Hyslip started the Tega Cay Sun in June 2023. Launched as an online publication, a printed paper entered circulation starting in October 2023. The online version is updated daily while the monthly printed version is available in several locations throughout Tega Cay. Delivery to your door is also an option with home delivery.

The same concept to bring local daily news to the community was expanded to our neighbors in York County with the launch of YoCo News in November 2024. The online version is updated daily and focuses on news relevant to York County. A monthly print edition will be available in early Spring 2025. Keep an eye out for paper stands featuring our logo in public spaces around town.

Both the Tega Cay Sun and YoCo News are part of the Liberty Media Group, LLC. Content from both sites is also shared on WRHI.com through a business relationship with OTS Media Group, the owners of WRHI and CN2.

Mission
Our primary goal is to bring back the look and feel of a local paper while bridging the gap between larger news outlets and local news impacting our community. We aim to provide upfront and affordable advertising for local businesses, who we view as our partners.
