James “JIm” Everette, 75, Lancaster, SC

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. James “Jim” Everette Fleming, age 75, passed away, Monday, February 24, 2025 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born April 20, 1949 in Wadesboro, NC, the son of the late James Calvin Fleming and the late Sarah Virginia Hudson Fleming and was the husband of the late Sara Ella McDaniel Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a member of First Baptist Church Lancaster where he has served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and mostly enjoyed sharing the children’s sermon with many children over the years. His strong faith has sustained him over the course of his life.

In his professional life, He held many different roles but most within the human resources sector. He was with Springs Industries from 1969-1983. Where he has noted that his most favorite role was being the Personnel manager at the Springsteen and Eureka plants. Mr. Fleming finished his career at Teledyne Allvac as the Vice President of Human Resources. In 1993 he was awarded the Babcock Award for excellence in Human Resources. Mr. Fleming was a former Chairperson and Board member of Founders Credit Union, former President of the Lancaster Rotary Club and former board member of Johnson C Smith University.

Over the years Mr. Fleming enjoyed a variety of physical activities. He was a proud Chester Cyclone foot ball player, making all conference two years in a row. Football remained a passion for the remainder of his life. In the early 1970s he was the national and southeastern Weight lifting Champion. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed kayaking.
Mr. Fleming is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Fleming of Lancaster, and Kathryn Fleming Casserly (Joe) of Easley, SC; his two grandchildren, Jack Edward Casserly, and Reed Wilson Casserly; his brother, Ken Fleming (Joy) of Chester, SC; and many special family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Fleming; and his parents, James and Sarah Fleming.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 3:00 pm Friday, February 28, 2025 at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Randy Hatcher. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Memory Garden. The family will receive friends following the burial.
