Clover, S.C. — A bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning on South Carolina Highway 55 near Soaring Eagles Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a 2023 Toyota sedan, traveling south on SC Highway 55, collided with the cyclist from behind. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The York County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of family members.

It is unclear at this time whether any charges will be filed in connection with the crash. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.
