Mr. James “Jim” Ishman Starnes, Jr., age 83, passed away, Sunday, February 16, 2025 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born March 3, 1941 in Lancaster, SC, the son of the late James Ishman Starnes, Sr. and the late Margaret Rollings Starnes and was the loving husband of Catherine Bailey Starnes. Mr. Starnes was a retired electrician who enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church and Fork Hill Masonic Lodge #316.
Mr. Starnes is survived by his wife of 64 years; Catherine Starnes; his two sons, Glenn Starnes (Betty), and their son, Randy Jenkins (Nicole), Phillip Starnes (Kim), and their daughters, Kayla Hahn (Klayton), their daughter, Madelyn Hahn, and Katlyn Starnes; his siblings, Brice Starnes (Rose), Ernest Starnes, Ray Starnes (Becky), Donald Starnes (Kay), Jackie Starnes (Kathy), Ricky Starnes, Wayne Starnes (Yong), Maggie Bell Craig, Betty Anne Langley, Peggy Flowers (Mike), and Linda McManus (Dennis); and a large extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Eddie Starnes; his parents, James and Margaret Starnes; his two sisters-in-law; Ernestine “Tennie” Starnes, and Chris Starnes; and two brothers-in-law, Billy Craig, and Will Langley.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Fork Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dale Walters, Pastor Adam Furr, and Dr. Ken Pruitt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, Youth Department, 1125 Fork Hill Rd, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
