Eaton Expands in South Carolina with $340 Million Investment in Union County

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Commerce has announced that global power management leader Eaton is expanding its presence in the state with a $340 million investment in Union County. The new manufacturing facility will create 700 jobs and support the production of three-phase transformers, which are critical for modernizing the nation’s power grid.

Eaton, which operates in more than 160 countries, has a long history in South Carolina. The new site in Jonesville will mark the company’s 11th facility in the state and its third U.S. plant dedicated to manufacturing three-phase transformers. The 861,000-square-foot facility, located at 6802 Furman L. Fendley Highway, will be retrofitted for production, with operations and hiring expected to begin in 2027.

To support recruitment and training, Eaton will collaborate with readySC and regional schools. Additionally, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits for the project, along with a $10 million Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to assist Union County with building improvements.
