ROCK HILL, SC — Northwestern High School’s football team capped a successful season with a second-place finish in the final 2024 Sports Illustrated Top 25 South Carolina High School Football State Rankings. The Trojans earned this distinction following their 34-31 victory over Irmo in the Class AAAAA Division 2 State Championship Game over the weekend.
The championship win cemented Northwestern’s status as one of the state’s top programs.
South Pointe High School, another standout from Rock Hill, also made the final rankings, landing at 17th place. The Stallions finished their season with an impressive 11-3 record but fell short in the playoffs after a loss to Westside. Westside, in turn, was defeated by Florence in the AAAA State Championship Game.
Both Northwestern and South Pointe’s success this season highlights the strength of Rock Hill football, as the city continues to produce elite programs that compete at the highest levels.
