South Pointe Holds No. 1 As Fort Mill Enters The 5A Top 10

South Pointe collected all 18 first place votes in Class 4A and three York County programs landed in the Class 5A top 10 in the Week 4 South Carolina high school football media poll.

The Stallions, 3 and 0 on the season, are the only unanimous No. 1 in the five classification poll. Daniel took all 18 first place votes in Class 3A but shares the ballot with no other team in that grouping receiving a vote for the top spot.

York County Fills The 5A Top 10

Northwestern sits at No. 2 in Class 5A at 2 and 1, picking up two first place votes behind Dutch Fork, which took the other 16. Rock Hill is No. 5 at 3 and 0. Fort Mill is No. 10, also 3 and 0, and the only unbeaten team at the bottom of that top 10 outside of James Island and Berkeley.

That puts three of the 10 ranked 5A teams inside York County, with a fourth local program, Catawba Ridge, listed among the teams receiving votes in Class 4A.

Indian Land And Andrew Jackson Represent Lancaster County

Indian Land is No. 6 in Class 4A at 2 and 1. Lancaster appears in the others receiving votes line in the same classification. Andrew Jackson, in Kershaw, holds the No. 10 spot in Class 2A at 2 and 1. Chester, just west of the coverage area, also drew votes in Class 2A.

The panel includes several voters who cover the area, among them Mac Banks of Fort Mill Prep Sports, Andrew Chodes of The Lancaster News, Chris Miller of WRHI and Travis Jenkins of The News and Reporter in Chester.
