Two Killed, Six Injured in Head-On Crash Near Clover

Two people were killed and six others, including five children, were injured in a head-on crash Saturday afternoon near Clover, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred just before 3 p.m. on North Paraham Road, south of W.H. Stowe Road.

The York County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 18-year-old Justin Meenaghan and 36-year-old Brooklyn Gilfillan. Authorities said Meenaghan was driving a Ford Mustang when he lost control, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with Gilfillan’s Kia Sorento.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Six passengers in the Sorento, including five children, were transported to area hospitals with injuries. Officials have not released information on the extent of their injuries.

The crash prompted the closure of North Paraham Road between S.C. Highway 55 and S.C. Highway 557 for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
