Dixie Leigh Huffman, 71, of Lancaster, SC, died Monday Morning, July 27, 2026, in Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center, of organ failure. She was the daughter of Forrest E. and Marguerite Sanders Huffman of Lancaster, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her siblings Rita, Tony, and Sandy (Forest Jr.) Huffman of Lancaster, and her adopted sister Sondra (Sandy) Selnick-Kahn and her husband Mark Kahn of Lancaster, formerly of California.
Dixie graduated from Lancaster High School in 1972 and attended the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. She lived in Nome, Alaska, which she loved, from 1992 to 2015, when she moved back to Lancaster. She was a breast cancer survivor.
Dixie was a private person, but she touched people in positive ways. She loved her two cats, Pink and Floyd. Dixie enjoyed her life and lived it on her terms. In the words of her favorite band, we say to her “Shine on, you Crazy Diamond.”
There will be a recognition of her life get-together at the home of Sondra Kahn at a later date.
