Eric Tipton, 48, of Fort Mill was found dead in the water at Lake Wylie on Sunday, July 26, the York County Coroner’s Office confirmed.
Boaters near a sandbar off Little Allison Creek found Tipton unresponsive in the water and called 911. The boaters pulled Tipton to a nearby dock and began CPR, but responding emergency medical crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigation continues
The York County Sheriff’s Office dive team searched the water around the sandbar following the recovery.
The York County Coroner’s Office and the York County Sheriff’s Office are both investigating. An autopsy and toxicology testing are pending. Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact the York County Sheriff’s Office.
