SLED Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting at Fort Mill Apartment Complex

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred late Tuesday morning at a local apartment complex.

Law enforcement activity was reported at approximately 11:55 AM at the Sycamore Apartments, located just off Springfield Parkway in Fort Mill. The incident took place while officers were executing a specialized search warrant.

According to initial reports, members of the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit were on the scene assisting with an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force operation when the shooting occurred.

SLED has officially taken the lead on the investigation, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings across the state. Authorities confirmed that no law enforcement officers sustained physical injuries during the confrontation.

Details regarding the condition of the suspect, the identity of the individual targeted by the warrant, and what triggered the gunfire have not yet been released. State investigators are currently processing the scene and collecting evidence, noting that more information will be made public as the investigation allows.
