Four standout soccer players from York County schools have earned spots on the South Carolina roster for the 2026 Clash of the Carolinas, the nation’s only interstate prep soccer all-star event, set for June 20 at the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex in Pineville, N.C.
The annual showcase pits top graduating seniors from South Carolina against their counterparts from North Carolina, giving the region’s best players one final opportunity to represent their state before moving on to college programs.
Local Players Earning Spots
All four local selections landed on the boys roster, reflecting the strength of York County boys soccer programs this past season.
Clover High School goalkeeper Cohen Brinkley earned the backstop role on the South Carolina squad, one of the most prominent positions on the roster. His Clover teammate Evan Tubilio also earned a spot among the field players, giving the Blue Eagles two representatives in the showcase. Fort Mill’s Juan Jose Gomez adds another local presence to the South Carolina attack, while Nathanael Finley of Catawba Ridge rounds out the York County contingent, earning the Copperheads a representative in one of the premier senior showcases in the Carolinas.
The Full South Carolina Rosters
The complete boys roster features 18 players drawn from programs across the state. Cohen Brinkley, a goalkeeper from Clover, anchors the back line. Field players include Mohammad Alahmad of Wando, Jacob Braden of Chapin, Oliver Cannon of James Island Charter, Savvas Chionakis of South Aiken, Smith Darby of J.L. Mann, Joshua DeSouza of Ashley Ridge, Nathanael Finley of Catawba Ridge, Juan Jose Gomez of Fort Mill, Trey Hall of Bishop England, Luka Kucinic of St. Joseph’s, Cullen Maas of A.C. Flora, Wels McLeod of Lucy Beckham, Brody Pike of Powdersville, Jud Scrivner of Powdersville, Evan Tubilio of Clover, Jalen Tucker of Chapin, and Owen Willcox of West Ashley. The boys squad will be coached by Brian Gamble of Dixie and Bob Taylor of Chapin.
The complete girls roster is equally geographically diverse. Emmy Rikard of Eastside, Lila Bowers of Chapin, Ava Brown of Southside Christian, Ally Buchanan of Mauldin, Bela Charriez of River Bluff, Adriana Dunat of Lexington, Rose Finnegan of Greer Middle College, Natalie Gullo of Wando, Emerson Hamilton of Greenville, Jayden Irby of Eastside, Keira Jeffries of Wando, Lola Kelly of St. Joseph’s, Kelsey Merriman of Riverside, Brooke Ogorek of River Bluff, Ella Petry of Oceanside Collegiate, Bella Spadavecchia of Wade Hampton, Sydney Stoner of Chapin, and Katie Villiger of J.L. Mann make up the 18-player squad. The girls team will be coached by Carlos Osorio of Dorman and Sheila Wyer of Southside Christian.
About the Event
The Clash of the Carolinas holds a unique place in high school athletics as the only prep soccer all-star game in the country that crosses state lines. The event brings together the top senior players from both Carolinas for a competitive showcase that draws college coaches and scouts alongside family and community supporters.
This year’s matches return to the south Charlotte area after previous editions of the event. The OrthoCarolina Sportsplex in Pineville provides a premier venue for the occasion, with quality turf and facilities suited to a showcase of this caliber.
For York County soccer families, the June 20 matchup in Pineville is an easy trip, with the venue sitting just across the state line from the Fort Mill and Tega Cay area. Fans looking to catch a final glimpse of some of the county’s top senior players before they move on to college programs will find the drive to be a short one.
