YORK COUNTY, SC – The York County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit has been recognized for excellence at the South Carolina Law Enforcement Network (SCLEN) Awards, earning Gold status for its outstanding efforts in traffic safety initiatives.
The Gold designation reflects the unit’s comprehensive approach to traffic enforcement, including proactive enforcement strategies, community education, and consistent participation in statewide safety meetings. These combined efforts demonstrate the agency’s commitment to reducing traffic-related incidents and enhancing roadway safety across York County.
In addition to the unit’s recognition, the 16th Judicial Circuit was ranked number 1 in the state for its collective traffic safety performance, highlighting the collaborative success of law enforcement agencies within the circuit.
Deputy Katie Howell received a Bronze Award for her efforts in DUI enforcement. She was also nominated for Rookie of the Year, highlighting her commitment and impact early in her law enforcement career.
The York County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the county through continued traffic enforcement, education, and partnerships aimed at making roadways safer for all drivers.
