YORK, S.C. — The York Comprehensive High School “Cougar Strength” program delivered a dominant performance at the 2026 Male Strength Region 4 Meet, resulting in 15 athletes qualifying for the upcoming state competition.
The team is now set to compete at the State Weightlifting Meet, which will be held on March 21 at Lexington High School.
The Varsity squad led the charge with nine qualifiers, including five regional champions who took home first-place honors in their respective weight classes. The Junior Varsity team also showed impressive depth, sending six athletes to the state level, two of whom secured first-place finishes at the regional meet.
Varsity State Qualifiers:

1st Place: Natonio Byrd, Saadiq Worthy, Eli Clinton, TJ Bratton, and Jordan Galan

2nd Place: JJ Hagen, Jah’Maud Moore, and Tyreese French

JV State Qualifiers:

1st Place: Aiden Hughes and Alijah Chisolm

2nd Place: Owen Hill, Imon Mitchell, Damote’ Meadows, and Jaderious Lord
The strong showing at the regional level sets the stage for a competitive appearance in Lexington later this month as the Cougars look to bring home state titles.
