Founders Federal Credit Union Names Evan Mathis President in Leadership Shift

LANCASTER, SC – Founders Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in South Carolina, announced Tuesday that it has appointed Evan Mathis as its new President, effective immediately.

The announcement marks a shift in the organization’s succession planning. Current CEO Bruce Brumfield, who had announced his pending retirement in January of last year, will remain with the company as Chief Executive Officer.

Mathis, a native of Fort Mill, joined Founders in 2019 and most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Professional Accountancy from Clemson University.

This appointment comes two months after the credit union’s board changed direction on a previous succession plan, parting ways with incoming president Keith Wilson in November.

“After careful consideration and discussion with our Board, we know Evan is the right person to assume this role and maintain the momentum of the steady growth and strategic goals we have worked hard to achieve,” Brumfield stated in the release.

Founders Federal Credit Union was established in 1950 by a group of mill employees and now has 50 locations across the Carolinas serving over 270,000 members with 860 employees.
