Rock Hill, SC – The Rock Hill School District is proud to announce the hiring of Laurabree Monday as its new Public Information Officer. A seasoned journalist and community leader, Laurabree brings over two decades of experience in media, communications, and community engagement to the district, as well as a deep passion for serving the people of Rock Hill and York County.
Before joining the Rock Hill School District, Laurabree made a lasting impact working for Comporium as the CN2 News Director and Anchor for 16 years, earning numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award. After her time at CN2 she served as the Director of Communications for the United Way of York County. Throughout her career, Laurabree has been a tireless advocate for local causes, making her the perfect fit for this new role.
“Laurabree’s extensive background in journalism and communications, coupled with her strong ties to our community, makes her an ideal choice to serve as our new Public Information Officer,” said Dr. John Jones, Interim Superintendent of Rock Hill School District. “Her passion for the Rock Hill area and her leadership experience will help our district continue to build stronger relationships with our families, staff, and the broader community.”
Laurabree is on the board and a past president of the Radio, Television, Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) and serves as an advisory board member for York Technical College’s Teleproduction Technology Department. Laurabree is also a graduate of Leadership York County and is actively involved in promoting local nonprofits and events throughout the region.
“I’m thrilled to join the Rock Hill School District and to work alongside dedicated educators and staff to communicate the important work we are doing for our students and families,” said Laurabree Monday. “I look forward to using my skills to help strengthen the district’s communication with our stakeholders.”
Board Chair Helena Miller also expressed “we are confident that Laurabree’s knowledge, experience, and love for our community will help elevate the Rock Hill School District’s communication efforts”.
Laurabree began her career in radio in New York City before moving on to various television stations around the country. She is a graduate of Indiana University with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. Laurabree, along with her husband Keith, a Meteorologist for WSOC-TV in Charlotte, and their two children, call York County home.
The Rock Hill School District is excited for the future with Laurabree as Public Information Officer and the new opportunities for communication and community engagement she will bring. Monday, March 31, 2025, was Laurabree’s first day, and the district looks forward to the fresh perspective and positive impact she’ll bring to this vital role.
