The South Carolina high school basketball playoffs brackets are set and teams from across the state are ready to battle for a chance to claim the coveted state championship title. Several schools from the region are in the mix, including Fort Mill, Catawba Ridge, Nation Ford, Indian Land, Lancaster, York, Clover, York Preparatory Academy, Rock Hill, South Pointe, and Northwestern. Let’s take a look at how these local teams are seeded and their paths ahead in the playoffs.
Local Team Seedings and Outlooks:
- Fort Mill (AAAAA Div2): The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets earned the No. 2 seed in the AAAAA Division 2 Upper State and will host the winner of No. 10 Nation Ford and No. 7 Woodmont on Friday, Feb. 21. They are a strong contender for a deep playoff run.
- Catawba Ridge (AAAAA Div2): The Catawba Ridge Copperheads face a tough challenge as the No. 12 seed in the AAAAA Division 2 Upper State. They travel to No. 5 T.L. Hanna on Tuesday, Feb. 18. An upset victory could spark a surprising playoff run.
- Nation Ford (AAAAA Div2): The Nation Ford Falcons are the No. 10 seed in the AAAAA Division 2 Upper State and will be on the road against No. 7 Woodmont on Tuesday, Feb. 18. They’ll need a strong performance to advance and potentially face Fort Mill in the next round.
- Indian Land (AAAAA Div2): The Indian Land Warriors secured a solid No. 3 seed in the AAAAA Division 2 Upper State and will host the winner of No. 11 Easley and No. 6 Northwestern on Friday, Feb. 21. Their seeding gives them a good chance to make a deep run.
- Lancaster (AAAA): The Lancaster Bruins are the top seed in the AAAA Upper State and will host No. 16 Emerald on Monday, Feb. 17. As the No. 1 seed, they are a favorite to advance far in the tournament.
- York (AAAA): The York Cougars are the No. 14 seed in the AAAA Upper State and face a tough road matchup against No. 3 Greer on Monday, Feb. 17. They will need to pull off an upset to continue their season.
- Clover (AAAAA Div1): The Clover Blue Eagles are the No. 7 seed in the AAAAA Division 1 Upper State and will host No. 10 Spartanburg on Monday, Feb. 17. They will be looking to advance.
- York Preparatory Academy (AA): York Prep will be playing Landrum on Tuesday, February 18th.
- Rock Hill (AAAAA Div1): The Rock Hill Bearcats are the No. 11 seed in the AAAAA Division 1 Upper State and will travel to No. 6 Byrnes on Monday, February 17th.
- South Pointe (AAAA): The South Pointe Stallions are the No. 5 seed in the AAAA Upper State and will host No. 12 Seneca on Monday, February 17th.
- Northwestern (AAAAA Div2): The Northwestern Trojans are the No. 6 seed in the AAAAA Division 2 Upper State and will be on the road against No. 11 Easley on Tuesday, February 18th.
